Ideas for iPhone Fun

Like any other mom out there, you want to create lasting memories of your kids as they grow up by taking photos of them frequently. But what if I told you that you could turn your casual snapping into a fun and engaging activity that your kids will enjoy? Instead of snapping them as they run around your house or play with their toys, you can actively involve them and spend quality time together.

Take a look at the following list of 10 fun photography ideas you can do with your iPhone and get some inspiration. I bet you’ll end up with some candid shots you’d want to share on your insta feed afterward!

1. Experiment with posing

Children, especially the little ones, are very playful. And since you’ll probably find it quite hard to get them to stand still, you can try different poses which show their energetic spirit.  Grab your cell phone and choose the location you’d think would give the best backdrop. Then, tell your child to pose in whichever way comes naturally to them. The important thing here is to stand still while taking your kid photos, so you might want to use a tripod. Ensure your child takes different positions, so there’s no overlapping afterward.

Now comes the best part of this iPhone photo hack!

Choose an app that will allow you to combine the images (such as Adobe’s Photoshoot Mix). Then, work its magic to end up with one of the best insta pic ideas, showing every pose your child has taken into one photo!

2. Framing photography ideas

Framing is another interesting technique that will take your images to the next level. In essence, it’s about focusing on one subject by blocking off other parts of the image to form a frame. For example, you can ask one of your children to stand closer to the objective and the other farther away, focusing the camera on the latter. Or, to make every one of your kids a focal point in the picture, choose a natural environment and blur the surroundings by focusing your iPhone’s camera on your little ones. This will create a lovely vivid frame that I’m sure will look good on your feed.

3. Get creative with the chalkboard

Next on my list of fun photo ideas is giving your kids a chalkboard and colorful chalk and instructing them to make a sign by writing a slogan or drawing a picture. You can include their brilliant masterpiece in the photos by coming up with interesting ways to hold the sign while they pose.

And if they’re too little to create the sign, why don’t you get creative and write something yourself? You can place the sign next to them and make some pretty fun shots!

4. Use a DIY frame

Every mom with a camera looks for new and clever ways to take candid photos of her little ones. And I have the perfect idea for you!Next time you put them to sleep, grab cardboard, styrofoam, or a few pieces of wood and get crafty. Arrange them, so they form a frame and paint or draw over your project. You can later use it as a handy prop when photographing your children while they do something cute.

5. Unusual props

Incorporating some unique props is probably one of the best photography ideas. Apart from the usual ones every mom has already thought of – such as toys or blankets – you can use many more household ideas. For example, you can use your cooking utensils and create a mini-kitchen setting or blow some bubbles for the ultimate color-depth effect!

6. Put your dog in the picture!

Your dog is an important part of your family, and probably someone your kids spend a lot of time playing with. So, it’s only natural to think it deserves a special place in your kid photos.

You can snap some adorable photos of your children playing with their furry friend, or hang a sign that says something funny. I bet you’ll love the outcome so much that you might even print it to include in your family album.

7. Create a staircase setting

Who says that your home only offers a limited source of photo scenes? One brilliant example of how you can use your home environment to create a handful of funny family photo ideas is your staircase. You can place your children on different stairs and use different props to make the perfect setting.

8. Tell a story through photos

This is probably one of my favorite photography ideas, and it is not so hard to capture. Think about which details you would like to include in your frame and make the preparations in advance. And remember, you need to take a variety of still images of a single situation to tell your story successfully.

9. Take a different perspective

If you’re tired of shooting vertical photos, switching perspectives is a good idea. Photographing your children from above as they lay down will give a whole different dimension to your insta pic ideas. You can also use some props to create a fun and unique setting that will look great in your photos.

10. Give your iPhone to your child

So far, you’ve been doing all the work, so why don’t you consider entrusting the photography task to your child? Give them your phone and ask them to take a bunch of photos of whatever they like. May it be their favorite toy, or your beautiful garden flowers, allow the choice to be ultimately theirs. Not only will this be a fun activity for them, but you'll also find that your child has some hidden photography talent!

I truly hope these super-fun iPhone photography ideas will inspire you to create some images you’ll truly adore.
