FAQs
Do we bring our own clothes?
For that painterly look, you can borrow from my studio wardrobe. I have many gowns and dresses for moms and girls. I have outfits for boys too. Or we can work with clothes you have.
I have more than one child. Can I still get an image like this?
Images in this painterly style work best with mom and 1 or 2 kids. Moms with more kids might consider a more modern look, or images with each of their kids individually.
What about Dad? Of course Dad can come and join in a more modern looking portrait as part of your session.
Do we get ALL the digital images you take, even the unedited ones?
When you come for your session, you will be able to see each image as it is taken in real time. From there, we make adjustments. Together, we “work the shot” until we get one we love. So, you wouldn’t really want all of those other duplicate images it took leading up to the best one. A few days after your session, you will get to see all the images that made the grade and you will select the ones you want edited.
If you were to buy a dress or a suit, you would want the finished product at its best. You wouldn’t also want all the scraps, thread bits, pattern leftovers or any other building blocks the designer used along the way. It is the same with images. Most images from an entire session are NOT ones you want to keep. You only want the ones that are the absolute best. For these reasons, I do not sell unedited images.
Why Mother-Child? Why not just family portraits? I believe that the great master artists of the past were correct in celebrating motherhood in their paintings. Today, motherhood should still be celebrated in its own right, and that is what my images do. The relationship between mother and child is the most important one there is. This makes it a great subject for portraiture.
