What Happens During a Private Santa Session?

Unlike a traditional Santa visit where families may only have a few moments with Santa, our one-family-at-a-time Santa experience is designed to give children the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the magic of Christmas.

Children can:

  • Hear Santa greet them by name.

  • Search for their name on the Nice List.

  • Help Santa unpack something special from his workshop.

  • Share Christmas wishes without feeling rushed.

  • Laugh during a silly game.

  • Read a favorite Christmas story together.

  • Discover little details hidden around the workshop.

  • Create genuine moments of wonder that simply can't be posed.

Every child is different. Some children run right up to Santa while others prefer to observe from a distance first. Both approaches are perfectly normal, and our goal is to create a relaxed experience that allows authentic moments to unfold naturally.

The result is a collection of images that tells the story of your child's Christmas experience rather than a single posed photograph.

I actually think this may become the most important section on your Santa page.

Not because it's about you.

Because it explains why the experience feels different.

Most photographers talk about props.

You can talk about purpose.

I would write something like this:

Why I Designed Santa's Workshop This Way

When people first visit Santa's Workshop, they often notice the toys, the cookies, the magical globe, and all the little details that make it feel like Santa has stepped away for just a moment.

But that's not where the experience began.

It actually began many years earlier, when I spent more than twenty years as a special education teacher.

Working with children taught me something that has stayed with me throughout my photography career:

Every child experiences the world differently.

Some children run into a room full of excitement.

Others need a few quiet moments to watch before joining in.

Some children are full of questions.

Others simply want to sit close to someone they trust.

No two children experience Santa in exactly the same way.

That's why I didn't want to create a Santa experience where every child was expected to smile on command or sit on Santa's lap within the first few seconds.

Instead, I wanted to create a place where children could simply be themselves.

A place where Santa has time to greet them by name.

A place where they can discover their name on the Nice List.

A place where they can help Santa unpack his workshop bag, peek inside his magical globe, share their Christmas wishes, or simply sit quietly and talk.

Those moments can't be rushed.

And they certainly can't be scripted.

Over the years, I've learned that the most meaningful Santa photographs happen after a child begins to trust Santa—not before.

When children feel safe, respected, and genuinely engaged, something wonderful happens.

The smiles become real.

The laughter becomes spontaneous.

The expressions of wonder become unforgettable.

As a Certified Professional Photographer, I care deeply about creating beautiful portraits.

But as someone who spent decades helping children learn and grow, I care even more about creating an experience that feels joyful, patient, and memorable for every family who walks through my door.

My hope is that years from now, your children won't just remember having their picture taken with Santa.

They'll remember helping him.

Talking with him.

Laughing with him.

Finding their name on the Nice List.

Believing, even if only for a little while, that they had truly stepped inside Santa's Workshop.

Because those are the memories that become part of a family's Christmas story.

A Private Santa Experience Worth the Short Drive

Many of the families who visit Santa's Workshop come from Northeast Los Angeles neighborhoods including Echo Park, Atwater Village, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Mount Washington, Eagle Rock, and Los Feliz. Parents tell us they would rather spend a few extra minutes driving than wait in long mall lines for only a brief visit with Santa. Our private sessions give children time to relax, explore Santa's workshop, read a story, enjoy cookies, discover their name on Santa's Nice List, and create genuine family memories in a calm environment.
