Private Santa Photos vs. The Americana at Brand Santa Experience: Which Is Right for Your Family?
These Moments Are Some Of Childhood’s Most Magical
Visit Santa’s Workshop This Holiday
Every holiday season, Glendale families have a wonderful problem to solve.
How do we want to experience Santa this year?
Some families love spending an afternoon walking through beautifully decorated shopping centers, enjoying holiday music, watching snowfall, and visiting Santa along the way.
Others are looking for something quieter—a private experience where their child has time to build a genuine connection with Santa before the camera ever comes out.
Both create wonderful memories.
They're simply different kinds of holiday traditions.
If you're considering a visit to Santa at Glendale's Americana at Brand or a private Santa's Workshop experience at Panos Productions Photography, here's what makes each one unique.
The Americana Santa Experience
The Americana at Brand has become one of Southern California's favorite holiday destinations.
Families can spend an entire afternoon enjoying:
Santa's House
The spectacular Christmas tree
Nightly snowfall
Holiday shopping
Restaurants and treats
Beautiful seasonal decorations
Professional Santa photographs
For many families, Santa is one memorable stop during a larger holiday outing.
If your children enjoy festive crowds, Christmas lights, shopping, and making a day of it, the Americana offers a wonderful seasonal tradition.
Our Santa's Workshop Is Built Around One Thing
Your child.
Instead of fitting your family into Santa's busy day...
Santa's day is designed around your family.
Each appointment is completely private.
There are no other children waiting their turn.
No audience watching.
Less pressure to hurry because another family is standing behind you.
For a few magical minutes, Santa's Workshop belongs entirely to your family.
Santa Already Knows Your Child
This is one of my favorite moments every year.
Before your family arrives, I tell Santa a little about your child.
Their name.
Their age.
Their interests.
Whether they're shy or outgoing.
Instead of asking,
"What's your name?"
Santa often greets children by name.
The look on their faces is priceless.
Many children immediately begin wondering...
"How did Santa know?"
Later, they discover something even more magical.
Their own name is already waiting for them on Santa's Nice List.
Watching children search for their name—and then realize Santa really has been keeping track—is one of those genuine moments you simply cannot pose.
Those expressions become some of my favorite photographs every season.
Every Child Creates a Different Story
One reason our galleries don't all look alike is because every visit unfolds differently.
Some children help Santa unpack his workshop bag.
Others become fascinated with Santa's magical globe.
Some proudly wear Santa's glasses.
Some giggle through the Tickle Monster game.
Others carefully learn Santa's secret handshake.
Quiet children sometimes spend several minutes simply talking with Santa before a single photograph is taken.
Nothing is forced.
Santa follows your child's curiosity.
That's why no two sessions are ever exactly the same.
My Background Changes Everything
Before becoming a professional photographer, I spent more than twenty years as a special education teacher.
That experience continues to shape every Santa session I photograph.
I've learned that children don't all warm up the same way.
Some need movement.
Some need humor.
Some need quiet.
Some need extra time.
Some simply need an adult who notices when they're feeling overwhelmed.
Because our appointments are private, Santa has the flexibility to meet children where they are instead of expecting every child to react the same way.
For many parents, that slower pace completely changes the experience.
Less Stress for Parents
Let's be honest.
The holiday season can feel overwhelming.
Traffic.
Shopping.
Holiday parties.
Finding parking.
Keeping everyone dressed nicely.
Hoping your toddler cooperates.
I wanted Santa's Workshop to remove as much stress as possible.
Families enjoy:
Easy residential parking
Private scheduled appointments
Time to slow down
No audience watching nervous children
No pressure to rush your child
A relaxed atmosphere where children can simply be themselves
Many parents tell me they leave feeling surprisingly calm.
That's exactly what I hoped for when I designed the experience.
Parents Are Part of the Magic Too
Some of my favorite photographs include parents laughing right alongside their children.
Parents, siblings, and grandparents are welcome to participate throughout the session.
You're also welcome to capture your own behind-the-scenes videos on your phone during the experience.
There is no additional charge.
Those little cellphone videos often become treasured memories all by themselves.
A Workshop Designed Just for Santa
Santa's Workshop wasn't purchased from a catalog.
It has been thoughtfully designed and continues to evolve every year.
Each season I add new handcrafted details, vintage touches, and interactive props that invite children to explore rather than simply sit for a picture.
The goal isn't just beautiful photographs.
The goal is creating the feeling that your child has stepped inside Santa's real workshop.
Photographs That Tell Your Story
When every family experiences the exact same interaction, many Santa galleries naturally begin to look alike.
Private sessions create something different.
Your child may spend ten minutes talking to Santa about dinosaurs.
Or helping him unpack his magical bag.
Or carefully finding their name on the Nice List.
Or quietly sitting beside him, completely absorbed in the moment.
Those experiences create photographs that feel personal because they are personal.
Your gallery becomes the story of your child—not a series of poses that could belong to anyone.
Beautiful Memories That Last Beyond Christmas
After your session, your memories don't have to stay on your phone.
Many families choose professional archival prints, handcrafted albums, or wall art to enjoy every Christmas season.
These become part of your family's holiday traditions, growing more meaningful as the years pass.
Which Santa Experience Is Right for Your Family?
The answer depends on the kind of memory you want to create.
A public Santa experience, like the one at the Americana at Brand, is perfect for families who want to spend the day enjoying holiday decorations, shopping, dining, and seasonal entertainment, with a Santa visit as part of that larger celebration.
A private Santa's Workshop experience is designed for families who want something more personal—an unhurried visit where Santa has time to know your child, adapt to their personality, and create genuine moments of wonder before the photographs are even taken.
Neither experience is better.
They're simply different.
If you're looking for a Santa visit where your child is more than the next appointment, I'd love to welcome your family into Santa's Workshop this holiday season.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book my private Santa’s Workshop Session?
Hollywood trained Santa’s are a rare commodity. There are few of them and they book tons of gigs during the holiday season. Many families book months in advance to ensure they get their time that they want. When we sell out, we have a waitlist. If we can book Santa again, we will have an additional day of Santa’s Workshop Photos. We understand it may not be possible to book months in advance, but we do recommend booking as soon as you can.
Is Santa's Workshop private?
Yes. Every family receives a private appointment, giving your child time to interact with Santa without other families watching. The only thing you have to do, is arrive to your appointment about 5 minutes early, just so we can be sure everything goes off as planned. We schedule a few minutes in between appointments just in case, but being prompt is very important.
Can parents and grandparents be in the photos?
Absolutely. Santa sessions are designed to celebrate family memories, and loved ones are welcome to participate.
Can I take videos during the session?
Yes. You're encouraged to capture behind-the-scenes moments on your phone at no additional cost.
Does Santa really know my child's name?
Yes! When you book, you fill out a questionnaire about your child/children. The more information you provide, the more accurate Santa can be. Before your session, Santa learns your child's name and greets many children personally. They'll even discover their name waiting for them on Santa's Nice List.
