Quick Answer
If you're hoping to make Santa photos part of your family's holiday tradition, the best time to book is as early as possible. Private Santa sessions often have a limited number of appointments, and the most popular dates fill quickly. Booking early gives you the best choice of appointment times, plenty of time to plan outfits and holiday cards, and one less thing to worry about as the holiday season gets busier.

The Best Time to Reserve Your Private Santa Experience
The holidays always seem far away…
Until suddenly they're not.
One minute it's summer, and the next you're trying to coordinate school schedules, family gatherings, Christmas cards, holiday shopping, and everything else that comes with the busiest season of the year.
If Santa photos are part of your family's holiday tradition, planning ahead makes the entire experience much more enjoyable.
Here's what I recommend.
The Best Time to Book Santa Photos
If you're hoping for a private Santa photo experience in Los Angeles, don't wait until November to begin looking. In my experience, there are some photographers who really do sell out in hours. But, just being real here, that is not the case for all of us. While I do not recommend waiting until November to start looking, it would be a lie to say that all Santa Experience sell out in August. Small studios usually have one or two Santa days in November so they can hand edit and get your images to you in time for Christmas.
Many photographers announce their holiday events during the summer or early fall so families have plenty of time to plan.
Booking early gives you the best chance of choosing an appointment time that works well for your family's schedule and gives you plenty of time to use your portraits for holiday cards, gifts, and decorations.
Why My Santa Visits for One Day Only
One question I hear every year is:
"Can we schedule another Santa day?"
I wish I could promise you we could. But a lot depends on Santa’s schedule. He, and all professional Santas, gets booked quickly.
My Santa is a professional performer who is in high demand throughout the holiday season. Rather than rushing through weeks of sessions with different Santas, I choose to work with the same Santa and create one carefully planned day filled with meaningful experiences for every family.
Because Santa usually visits my studio for one day only, the number of available appointments is naturally limited. If Santa is available for another day at my studio, of course, we add a day. But I can’t promise because much of the logistics is out of my control.
Once those appointments are reserved, I begin planning for the following holiday season.
Planning Ahead Means Less Holiday Stress
The closer we get to December, the busier life becomes.
School concerts.
Holiday parties.
Family gatherings.
Shopping.
Travel.
Adding one more thing to the calendar can feel overwhelming.
Many parents tell me they enjoy booking their Santa session early because it's one holiday tradition they don't have to think about again.
Their date is reserved, and they can simply look forward to sharing the experience with their children.
Why Families Choose a Private Santa Experience
Not every child enjoys standing in a long line at the mall.
Private Santa sessions are different.
Your family has dedicated time with Santa in a relaxed studio setting without strangers watching or waiting behind you.
Children can slow down, explore, ask questions, and interact naturally instead of feeling hurried.
That relaxed pace often creates the smiles, laughter, and genuine expressions parents hope for.
Holiday Cards Need Time, Too
If you're planning to use your Santa portraits for Christmas cards, remember to leave enough time for:
Professional editing
Ordering cards
Addressing envelopes
Mailing before the holiday rush
Booking earlier in the season gives you much more flexibility.
And if you are going to order a Personalized Santa Storybook for your child, sooner is better.
Weekends Fill Quickly
Many families prefer weekend appointments because both parents can attend without taking time away from work.
If weekends are important to your family, planning ahead simply gives you more options.
What If I Don't Know My Holiday Schedule Yet?
That's perfectly normal.
Many families reserve their session before every holiday plan is finalized.
Having your Santa appointment already on the calendar often makes the rest of the season easier to organize.
Why I Keep My Santa Event Small
My goal has never been to photograph hundreds of children in a single weekend.
Instead, I focus on creating a personal experience where every child feels seen.
Your child won't be rushed through an assembly line.
Santa takes time to talk, listen, laugh, and create genuine moments that become the photographs families treasure for years.
Because Santa visits my studio for just one day each year, I intentionally keep the schedule small so every family has time to enjoy a relaxed, personal experience. If you're hoping to make this part of your holiday tradition, reserving your session earlier gives you the greatest choice of appointment times.

Can parents be in the photos?
Yes. Parents are always welcome to join the session for family portraits with Santa.
What if my child is shy?
That's completely okay. One of the advantages of a private session is that there is plenty of time for Santa to build trust, play, and meet children at their comfort level without feeling rushed.
